Lists are crucial to organization and time management. They are the best way to keep track of things that need to be done.

For your lists to be effective, you will need to adopt a non-negotiable routine for using them.

Order is paramount, so your routine should hinge on keeping your list(s) orderly from day to day.

Paper Lists – General Suggestions

  • For paper lists, as you complete it each item, scratch it out with a pen or marker.

  • This will give you a better visual picture of what’s left to do.

  • Avoid “collecting” these lists. You don’t want to be surrounded by stacks of lists with no clue about which one to use.

  • At the end of every day, create a new list for the next day and throw away the old one.

Digital Lists – General Suggestions

  • Have one list and one list only! (Having too many lists and calendars is the definition of “Nightmare.”)

  • Best solution: use a list/calendar that auto-syncs on all devices, like Google, for instance.
